A comprehensive Outreach Programme will follow the award ceremony. The outreach programme will actively involve the prize winners, and it will comprise such activities as lectures, master classes, seminars, summer schools and exchange programmes for researchers.

The outreach programme will be conducted in a close collaboration with the three major Danish Universities: University of Copenhagen, Aarhus University and University of Southern Denmark.

About the new prize and the outreach programme Professor Gitte Moos Knudsen from Copenhagen University says:

‘Over the years, the Lundbeck Foundation has assumed a special role in supporting Danish neuroscience research. Among other initiatives, four Lundbeck Foundation centres for neuroscience research have been set up over the past five years. This is of particular importance as, contrary to the more resourceful patients in other patient associations, our patients are not able to be ambassadors for their own cause due to their specific form of organ failure...’

Universities and hospitals have also shown significant recognition of the spearhead that Danish neuroscience research represents...’

The Lundbeck Foundation's decision to establish a new, major European brain research prize is good news for the Danish neuroscience research environment. The prize will help raise the awareness of Danish neuroscience research and, when visiting our country, European prize winners will act as role models and promote the recruitment of younger scientists to the field.’
